Over Dades- & Todra-kloven
De Todra is de spectaculairste van de twee. Waar de kloof smal wordt, delen een weg en een ondiepe rivier de bodem van de canyon, en de schaal is meteen voelbaar: je rijdt naar binnen en de lucht wordt een smalle strook. Het is een van de vaste klimgebieden van Marokko, met honderden gezekerde routes op de wanden.
De Dades is de bredere, groenere vallei, omzoomd door oude kasba's en bebouwde terrassen. Het kenmerk is de haarspeldweg die uit het hoofd van de vallei klimt — een reeks krappe bochten tegen de rotswand die op de meeste foto's van de streek staat. De rotsformaties die men hier 'apenvingers' noemt, liggen lager in dezelfde vallei.
